I'm Natalie: watercolor artist, photographer, ceramist. I teach middle school students. I'm obsessed with my garden. I love birds. I paint in watercolor because of moments that feel like a separate breath taken in a different life: a squirrel stares at me for a second while frantically burying seeds; a spider waves one of its legs while lying in wait on a yellow flower; clouds billlow upwards after a storm. I work in mediums that force me to commit to my intuition. The film exposure, the movement of clay around the wheel, watercolor wash sinking into the page. I'm trapped under a spell: I can't go back.
